Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic “addition polymer” made from a combination of propylene monomers. It is used in a variety of applications including packaging for consumer products, plastic parts for various industries including the automotive industry, special devices like living hinges, and textiles.
Our PP is used in the manufacturing of fabric for conversion into bulk bags.
Take a look at the polypropylene products we supply below:
Fabric
-
Permanent Colour
PP fabric is unique because its composition makes it resistant to stains and discolouration. Its plastic molecular structure means that it has no active dye sites, so this means the colour cannot be altered through stains, dyes or even bleach. This makes it extremely easy to clean. It also means that the fabrics won’t bleach in the sun.
The only way to colour PP fabrics is at the manufacturing stage, while the polymer is still in its liquid form. Once it is extruded, however, it’s pretty much impossible to change the colour.
-
Other Qualities
PP fabric is extremely strong and difficult to tear. It is stronger than its other synthetic cousin polyester, which is also known for being tough.
What’s more, PP fabric is water-resistant – which prevents it from staining – and yet breathable. It also has a strong hygienic structure which makes it resistant to allergens – which means that it won’t cause allergic reactions in people who come into contact with it.
PP fabric is very light – lighter than other synthetic fabrics. It also has low thermal conductivity meaning that it stays cool. PP fabric is highly flexible, which means it can be used in a wide range of applications.
-
Uses
PP fabric is a great choice for bulk bag manufacturing due to its toughness, it prevents tears and rips from occurring. This is particularly useful where bags are handled a lot in transit.
It is also a good fabric for transporting food and other perishables because it is breathable and moisture-resistant – although an additional polyethylene liner might be desired in some scenarios. Moreover, PP won’t lose its, shape or colour through extensive use, which is ideal for bulk bags.

Yarn
If you’re interested in manufacturing, repairing or modifying any PP fabric items, then you’re going to have to start with some PP yarn.
Our PP yarn comes in a variety of colours but choose carefully because, once you start making PP fabric in a certain colour, you can’t ever change it.

Tape
PP tape is extremely strong and is widely used for sealing tasks such as closing boxes in packing applications. It is a highly economic type of tape when compared with its vinyl counterpart
